The Sonderhoff group of companies attends the first time the productronica 2011 from 15th to 18th November – the world’s leading fair for innovative electronic engineering and production.

Sonderhoff – the system supplier of potting and sealing material, low pressure mixing and dosing machines as well as contract manufacturing of potting, gluing and foam gasketing –   exhibits new products for its customers in the electrical and electronic industry. Sonderhoff presents live the encapsulation of solar cell modules with a crystal clear polyurethane potting system out of the FERMADUR® K31 product family using the dispensing cell SD - DM 402/403.

At the productronica the electronic industry shows every 2 years its latest technical developments. However, the presentation of practice close and creative solutions for various applications and the optimization of production processes are as much important as innovations.

The system supplier Sonderhoff offers its customers complete package solutions – machine, material and service from a single source. The FERMADUR® potting system from Sonderhoff Chemicals GmbH is designed for various applications: the potting of highly sensitive electronic components such as sensors, transformers or solar cells as well as the encapsulation of LED lighting and circuit boards.

The high-quality, room temperature cross-linking 2-component polyurethane potting compound system was developed to form hard, soft and gel-like potting products. The flow ability, reactivity, degree of hardness and colour of the potting components can be adjusted in almost any way. With the use of the FIP (formed-in-place) technology the potting compound is applied directly on or into the part and cures there. Switch cabinets, electronic enclosures, solar cell covers or modules for solar heating and photovoltaic are safely sealed with the polyurethane foam gasketing system FERMAPOR® K31.

The visitors on the Sonderhoff stand at the productronica are able to see the precision of the modular constructed 2-/multi-component dispensing cell SD - DM 402/403 from Sonderhoff Engineering GmbH. The transparent polyurethane potting system out of the FERMADUR® product family is mixed, dispensed and potted without bubbles into the solar cell module using the 2-/multi-component low pressure dispensing cell SD - DM 402/403 from Sonderhoff Engineering. As a result, the solar cells from company EPS soltec Solartechnik GmbH get a crystal clear and UV-resistant encapsulation that perfectly protects against environmental influences such as moisture, dust and mechanical impact. The dispensing cell processes the transparent potting compound at a constantly high level of quality and material consistency.

Due to its compact design the dispensing cell SD - DM 402/403 can be integrated into any production concept. And due to its modular construction it can be very flexibly used. The dispensing cell precisely processes in semi- and full-automatic operation liquid, medium to high viscose compounds such as polyurethanes, silicones, epoxy resins and other polymer reaction substances for foam sealing, gluing and potting of parts for various applications.

The customers from Sonderhoff Engineering can decide for a dispensing cell equipped with a manual shuttle table (see picture) or alternatively for a turntable or an external conveyor belt. Additional features like the further developed air nucleation measurement and control unit SONDERHOFF NUCLEATION-CONTROL II or the dispensing nozzle measuring unit SONDERHOFF-NOZZLE-CONTROL are presented in the dispensing cell exhibited at the Sonderhoff booth.

With the SONDERHOFF-NOZZLE-CONTROL two laser sensors at right angles check the presence and measure the position of the dispensing nozzle. In case, the measuring of the dispensing nozzle results in the finding of contamination, the mixing head is automatically sent to the rinsing station where the nozzle is cleaned. Thus, an always perfectly clean and correctly positioned dispensing nozzle additionally ensures an optimal potting of the part or an accurate foam gasketing according to the parts’ contour.

In addition to other setting parameters of the Sonderhoff mixing and dosing machines the air nucleation measurement and control unit SONDERHOFF NUCLEATION-CONTROL II provides a high quality of the parts’ sealing that is further improved by an optimally fine-tuned and continuously controlled air nucleation – also an essential parameter for the foam gasketing of electronic enclosures and switch cabinet doors. These optional features of the mixing and dosing machines from Sonderhoff offer the operator additional ease of use for a constantly high quality of the parts’ sealing.
