Sonderhoff sells first plant for closed-cell sealing technology

The first of the newly developed medium-pressure mixing and dosing system DM 402 CC from Sonderhoff, now part of Henkel AG & Co. KGaA, was handed over to the plastics processor Borscheid + Wenig GmbH at the trade fair Fakuma. With the machine using the FIP CC sealing technology very closed-cell polyurethane foam seals for a very high level of water resistance can be produced. The Fermapor CC seal thus closes the gap between high-price predominantly closed-cell material systems such as silicone foam and cheaper mixed-cell PU foam systems.

The Borscheid + Wenig GmbH (B + W) from Diedorf is an experienced and innovative company for plastics processing with a comprehensive know how in the production of single components up to complete assemblies. Norbert Borscheid, Commercial Director of Borscheid + Wenig GmbH., is very pleased with the acquisition of the plant. "With the new FIP CC sealing technology, we want to further expand the field of freely applied sealing foam systems and use this technology in many fields of application," he says

After an intensive decision process the company had to choose between a one-component seal and breaking new ground. At that time, Sonderhoff had just finished developing the new FIP CC sealing technology and was about to be launched at the Fakuma 2017. "We are all the more delighted that Borscheid + Wenig has chosen Sonderhoff after an intensive test phase and many samples ", says Peter Fischer, Head of Marketing Sonderhoff Holding GmbH.

A number of advantages have been convincing for Borscheid + Wenig:
• A very closed-cell PU soft foam seal and therefore a very low water absorption
• A far cheaper alternative to 1K PU gaskets
• No investment costs for a tempering furnace
• The very fine-cell, very dense and particularly uniform foam structure of the Fermapor CC foam seal
• A good visual impression of the Fermapor CC foam seal thanks to a smooth, slightly glossy surface.

With the Fermapor CC sealing foam and the FIP CC technology, the market now has an advanced FIPFG process that opens up new fields of application for automated foam sealing.
